Synopsis
Teasing Master Takagi-san: The Movie has our two main kids experiencing their final summer in middle school. A lot of pressure is on Nishikata to one-up Takagi-san in their challenges. As usual, Takagi-san has the upper hand, mainly because the poor guy tends to overthink everything! However, it’s very clear that these two have some special feelings for one another.
Review
4 years ago I watched the first season of Teasing Master Takagi-san. It was such a comforting piece of Media, certainly a “feel good” show. I begged for a second season at that time. Now I’m here 3 seasons later watching “Takagi-San” on the big screen with the dumbest grin on my face.
Takagi in all of its light-heartedness is a character driven story at its finest. This film delivered everything it was supposed to, it handled its serious undertones well, delivered its fan service masterfully, it’s animation, background scenery in all of its fluidity had a consistent sense of quality throughout, a spectacle on the big screen.
Its soundtrack is fun and ecstatic, though some tracks were overused, my theatre also had a terrible stereo system. I was smiling the whole film and even hit the person sitting next to me upon the post credit scene. It’s a youthful explosion, even though the runtime is tragically short, I believe it to be a masterpiece.
If you’re a fan of the show, please go out and watch this film on the big screen, it truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you haven’t watch Takagi-san, please watch it out. I’m sure it’ll bring a smile to your face at least once. If you have no interest in the previous seasons, but still want to watch the film, do it. While some context is missing, this film is just as much as a starting point than the previous seasons.
This may be the end of the youthful adventure of Teasing Master Takagi-san, but that’s okay, because it’s bound to make you happy forever.
